Introduced by R.J. Armstrong, of Longwood Gardens, USA in 1990, Canna 'Aloha' is a small cultivar; green foliage, lanceolate shaped, acute apex, red margin, upright habit; oval main stems, coloured green; spikes of flowers are open, orange-red with yellow spots, staminodes are medium size, edges irregular, petals purple with farina, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured pink and purple; tillering is slow.

Canna 'Aloha' is available from specialist growers; breeding is Lenape x open.

The KAVB registration confirms that its main flower colour is orange-scarlet (RHS 32A-C), and the leaf is green with a narrow red margin. It is a cross with ‘Lenape’, and it first flowered in 1990, and is a good example of a dwarf Canna.

This recent cultivar has dark orange-red flowers with yellow markings, set off by greyish-green leaves with dark margins. It was raised in Longwood Gardens from a cross with ‘Lenape’, and it first flowered in 1990. It is a good example of a dwarf Canna.
