Introduced by Brian West, England in 2000, Canna 'Bethany' is a medium sized Italian Group cultivar; variegated green and yellow foliage, lanceolate shaped, acute apex, upright habit; round main stems, coloured green; oval flower stalks, coloured green; clusters of flowers are open, orange (RHS 28B) with yellow (RHS 14B) blotches, staminodes are large, edges irregular, fully self-cleaning, average bloomer, flowers in summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; seed is sterile, pollen is sterile; rhizomes are long and thin, coloured white; tillering is prolific.

Canna 'Bethany' was awarded RHS - AGM 2002; is available from specialist growers; breeding is a sport of C. 'Bengal Tiger'; it is registered with the KAVB.
This award-winning cultivar was discovered by Brian West, who lives on the outskirts of London, England, growing in his garden as a sport of C. ‘Bengal Tiger’. He named it after the name of his house.
This mutation was described at the 2002 RHS Trials as C. 'Bengal Tiger' with a flower like C. 'Roma'.

This was discovered by Brian West, who lives at Cheam on the outskirts of London, growing in his garden as a sport of ‘Pretoria’. He named it after the name of his house. He's had it for several years. It has a flower like ‘Florence Vaughan’, and foliage that is at least as good as ‘Pretoria’
