Introduced by Thor Dalebø of Normandy, France in 2011, Canna 'Cerise Bell' is a medium sized Foliage Group cultivar; dark green and red variegated foliage, ovoid shaped, acute apex, maroon margin, branching habit; hanging panicles of flowers are pendant panicles, bell-shaped, self-coloured cerise, staminodes are medium size, edges irregular, style is cerise streaked with gold, petals yellow, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in early summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not true to type, self-pollinating, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured pink and purple; tillering is average.
Canna 'Cerise Bell' is available from specialist growers; breeding is c. 'Alice McGuigan' x c. 'Ehemanii'.
An unusual cross with Canna 'Ehemanii', resulting in a distinctive plant with great presence.References
