Introduced by Vilmorin-Andrieux et Cie, Nurserymen, France in 1921, Canna 'En Avant' is a medium sized Premier Group cultivar; light green foliage, ovoid shaped, acute apex, white margin, spreading habit; oval main stems, coloured green; triangular flower stalks, coloured green; flowers are open, yellow (RHS 12A) with red (RHS 32A) spots, staminodes are large, edges lightly frilled, style is yellow, petals yellow, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in early summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules round; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white; tillering is average.
Canna 'En Avant' is generally available.

(M) This is a popular and easily grown cultivar. It has bright apple-green leaves and freely produced golden-yellow flowers that are beautifully sprinkled with red dots. This is one of the best spotted-flower Cannas and is frequently admired. Raised by Vilmorin-Andrieux in 1914. It is readily available.
