Introduced by Ian K. Cooke UK, author and UK National Canna Collection Holder, England, Canna 'Passionata' is a medium sized Foliage Group cultivar; green and purple variegated foliage, lanceolate shaped, acute apex, maroon margin, upright habit; oval main stems, coloured purple; spikes of flowers are open, apricot and salmon, staminodes are narrow, edges irregular, petals purple, partial self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in late summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured pink and purple; tillering is average.
Canna 'Passionata' is available from specialist growers.

Tall slender plant with very small open flowers coloured apricot/pink. Foliage is green with some bronze on the leaf veins and the stems. The seed pods are dark red.

(T) Another plant grown primarily for its foliage having vigorous but narrow leaves of soft pewter-bronze. The blooms are delicate apricot. It is a good background plant and useful with the other small flowered Cannas. Introduced by Ian K. Cooke and probably only available in Britain.
