Introduced by Marcelle Sheppard Nursery, Texas, USA, Canna 'Topaz' is a small Premier Group cultivar; green foliage, oval shaped, acute apex, branching habit; flowers are cupped, yellow-orange and apricot, staminodes are medium size, edges ruffled, petals green, fully self-cleaning, outstanding bloomer, flowers in summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white; tillering is average.
