Introduced by Thor Dalebø of Normandy, France in 2006, Canna 'Alice McGuigan' is a tall cultivar; dark foliage, long oval shaped, acute apex, upright habit; round main stems, coloured purple; round flower stalks, coloured purple; flowers are reflexed, burnt-red rayed with apricot, throat apricot, staminodes are medium size, edges irregular, petals purple, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in early summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured purple; tillering is prolific.
