Introduced by James Ranger, England in 2005, Canna 'Golden Orb' is a small cultivar; green and purple variegated foliage, oval shaped, acute apex, maroon margin, branching habit; oval main stems, coloured green + purple; triangular flower stalks, coloured green + purple; clusters of flowers are open, self-coloured gold, staminodes are medium size, edges irregular, labellum is gold, stamen is gold, style is gold, petals yellow, fully self-cleaning, outstanding bloomer, flowers in summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is prolific.
Canna 'Golden Orb' is available from specialist growers.
