Introduced by Thor Dalebø of Normandy, France in 2007, Canna 'River Usk' is a medium sized aquatic cultivar, equally at home as a water marginal or in the border; mid green foliage, lanceolate shaped, acute apex, white margin, upright habit; oval main stems, coloured green; spikes of flowers are open, self-coloured burnt-red, staminodes are narrow, edges serrated, petals purple with farina, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are long and thin, coloured white and purple; tillering is prolific.
A member of the River Series series, Canna 'River Usk' is available from specialist growers; breeding is Canna 'Endeavour' x open.
