Introduced by Antoine Wintzer of The Conard & Jones Co., West Grove, Pennsylvania, USA, Canna 'Gladiator' is a medium sized cultivar; dark green foliage, pointed oval shaped, acute apex, branching habit; oval main stems, coloured green; half-round flower stalks, coloured green; spikes of flowers are open, yellow heavily spotted with red, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, petals green, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in early summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is good.

Canna 'Gladiator'was awarded RHS AM at the 1908 RHS Indoor ; is available from specialist growers.
